The Time is Now

June 6, 2013

milkingbBeth Rankin here. When I started this blog about 15 months ago I was a novice farm visitor asking the most inane questions,  but you know what? The farmers seemed to appreciate the fact that I was interested in what they were doing. They didn’t seem to mind at all that my questions were simplistic and perhaps that helped a lot. If I could understand it, I could explain it to you. Perhaps you know more and could roll your eyes at what I wrote but perhaps you were like me and had no idea what work was involved in bringing all that food to where it could be on our tables.

You might be surprised at all I have had a chance to try:  from milking a goat to helping process some chickens (not going to share THOSE photos!) to the wonderful joy of making such very good friends of so many of our farmers.

What kind of information would you like to see in the blog? Farm visits? Information about the Producers and the food they bring to the market?  What other areas of the state or region or country or world have in their markets? How to cook the foods we have at The Wild Ramp? How our crafters find their materials? Activities offered in classes or other events? Other ideas?artiebDSC_0040

Jan 4 2013 milk bucket…………………………………………………………………………………..I have posted in this blog twice before that I will    be moving from Huntington at the end of this  summer. The time to get more bloggers involved is NOW. We have Emily Click and Stephanie Appleton who each cover one day but we now need three to five more people who can take this blog to the next level.

Let’s hear from you. Please email wildrampmarket@gmail.com to indicate what you might be able to do…for this summer, for the fall, for the whatever period of time you can perceive!
