Or perhaps, some people recognize its value, but to most it is just something growing where they don’t want it.

    As a paleoethnobotanist, I see Ralph’s view and agree. However, also being trained in evolutionary biology….there are definitely some weeds for weeds sake only. As a human, I envy their tenacity, ability to happily live where they are, and occassionally admonish their lack of courtesy when they visit my gardens for an extended stay only to leave their loathsome spawn to take up space.

    Or, a plant which, in our pride, we are too ‘good’ to eat. We label things as ‘weeds’ out of ignorance, and then use that ignorance as a shield.
