Mocking the Winter

January 22, 2013

Located in Morgan County in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, Mock’s Greenhouse is an amazing hydroponic farm growing produce year-round. We met Paul Mock when he visited Huntington for the Tri-State Farm Conference and he set up a huge selection of vegetables for sale at the Meet and Greet we held at Heritage Station in October.IMG_1326 I had had an opportunity to visit the greenhouses when I was in the Eastern Panhandle last May.closeup

I was back there yesterday for a Panorama on the Peak cooking practice session for the Cast Iron Skillet Cook-off. Restaurant owner Leslie Hotaling made a run to Mock’s to pick up some fresh produce and I went along. Jan 2013b

In May, the tomato plants  were very tall, supported with wires from the ceiling. JoshWe were told that new plants are installed in January and this visit gave me a chance to check that out. Jan 2013d
