Thank YOU for your labor and our food

September 3, 2012

We consumers (i.e. people who eat…hey! that means YOU!) need to stop just for a few moments today to consider the effort that results in food on our table.

A photo essay, culled from visits to our local farms as well as the Internet may help us realize the steps that are needed before we have food on our plate.

These pictures still cannot measure the heat, sweat and toil that goes into the production of what we consume. It is rewarding work but very hard and time consuming for all involved, maybe that is why so few actually grow their own gardens. It is so much easier to go to the large store and put it in your cart and hope it is healthy for you to eat.

I agree Chris, the photos do NOT capture it. Perhaps I need to actually follow one of our local farmers all day. Now THAT would be a neat photo essay!
