In Process: The Check-Out Counter
Sunday January 6, 2013 was another work session at The Wild Ramp. In the effort to improve functionality at the check-out, a new counter was designed. The cost of the construction materials was originally part of the Kickstarter fund raiser but then Lowes of Barboursville donated the material.
That magic is part and parcel of what makes The Wild Ramp a community market. Scott Horsfield is the manager at Lowe’s. His wife, Noelle, is the artist who has designed and produced a ceramic piece that will be displayed on the wall behind the new check-out counter. Her work was explained in a prior blog, Visual Appeal.
Scott was joined by Matt Garrett, Julie Schaer, Amy Ward, Graham Rankin and others including architect and designer Katharine Lea. The frame was built and then plywood sheathing was put in place. Shelves were built and the computer reinstalled.

Future work will include the barnboard and tin on the sides and the tiles on the top. Stay tuned!!!

Lookin’ good!
